At last year's CES show, Keysight and Qualcomm used Keysight's 5G network simulation solution and Qualcomm 5G technology to jointly demonstrate NAVER LABS's Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) applications.

This proof-of-concept demonstration uses Qualcomm Technologies (a subsidiary of Qualcomm)’s Qualcomm Snapdragon X50 5G modem and Keysight’s 5G network simulation solution to demonstrate the flexible operation of NAVER’s AMBIDEX industrial robotic arm. The 5G network will bring earth-shaking changes to the IIoT, not only to achieve shorter latency and higher reliability, but also to support a significantly increased number of connected devices. The 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) will support 5G NR Ultra High Reliability and Low Latency Communication (URLLC) features and functions in its 16th release, enabling mobile operators and enterprises to implement various high-performance industrial use cases.

5G network simulation solution based on industrial IoT applications

Jeffrey Torrance, Vice President of Business Development at Qualcomm Technologies, said: "This demonstration paved the way for the upcoming commercialization of the 5G Industrial Internet of Things. It is also another aspect of our close cooperation with Keysight in the past three years to accelerate the development of 5G technology. Positive results. Through cooperation, we have achieved a number of major industrial milestones, including the successful demonstration of 3GPP 5G NR standalone (SA) mode IP data transmission. This demonstration uses Keysight’s 5G network simulation The solution and test equipment that resembles a smartphone. The test equipment is equipped with the 5G modem and antenna module launched by Qualcomm Technologies in December last year."

The 5G network simulation solution takes full advantage of Keysight's UXM 5G wireless test platform and supports cross-protocol device verification, radio frequency (RF) and radio resource management (RRM) in the low-frequency and millimeter wave spectrum. The platform was the first in the industry to be approved by the Global Certification Forum (GCF) for use in 5G New Air Interface (NR) non-independent (NSA) test cases.

Kailash Narayanan, Vice President and General Manager of the Wireless Test Division of Keysight, said: “This joint demonstration shows that Keysight and Qualcomm Technologies and other innovative companies can make important contributions to the wireless industry. Keysight is accelerating new 5G application deployment (including applications supporting the Industrial Internet of Things) plays a key role, enabling the mobile ecosystem and vertical industries to confidently keep pace with the latest standards."

Keysight has launched the industry’s first 5G end-to-end design and test solution to support the mobile industry in accelerating the development of 5G products in the entire workflow from the physical layer to the application layer, and even from simulation, design, verification, manufacturing, deployment and optimization. Design and Development. Keysight provides general-purpose software and hardware platforms that comply with the latest 3GPP standards, enabling the entire ecosystem to quickly and accurately verify 5G chipsets, devices, base stations and networks, and to simulate user behavior scenarios.
